As the hottest news about the lottery sector informs, the UK gambling watchdog has selected Allwyn Entertainment as a preferred bigger for the National Lottery license. The iGaming operator will replace the previous licensee Camelot, which was running the National Lottery for twenty-eight years.
Previously known as Sazka Group, the Czech iGaming group Allwyn competed against other major gambling operators, including:
- Sisal;
- Camelot UK;
- Health Lottery from Northern and Shell.
The UK gambling authority claims that Allwyn’s proposal was the best way to grow payments to the good causes and make the National Lottery safer and more sustainable.
The new National Lottery license comes into effect on February 1, 2024, and will be valid for ten years, up until 2034.
Allwyn aims to redefine the development strategy of the National Lottery
After the UKGC announcement, the victorious gambling operator has released its statement. Allwin is now working on the transition plan, which will ease the handover of all operations from the current lottery operator Camelot.
The chair of the Czech gambling group, Sir Keith Mills, has stated that Allwyn aims to reform the meaning of the National Lottery for individuals and society.
